The Ralph Vines, II public speaking contest
supports and encourages youth to develop and strengthen their skills of
thinking clearly, speaking persuasively and allows them to demonstrate their
fundamental communication skills.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: March
12, 2018 SPECIAL NOTE: Due to growing interest a limited number of applications
will be accepted.
LENGTH OF SPEECH:
Each contestant must recite speech by
memory within the time guidelines. A penalty
will be assessed against the speaker when he or she fails to complete the
speech within the allotted time.
Contestants should introduce themselves,
their topic and began their speech. Visual
aids, props, or the assistance of a prompter are not allowed. Speeches must be original, written by student,
in good taste for group of peers/adults and cover topics such as Social,
Economic, and Industry.
PRIZES & AWARDS:
1st place (each age category): $250
2nd place (each age category): $150
3rd place (each age category): $100
